Dear fellow Paetenian:
During the meeting of the Paetenians International in Switzerland last Sunday in my (Fely’s) house, we decided to proceed with the planned Paetenians annual gathering this coming July 28-30, 2006. However since there isn’t much interest in a Camping get-together, we decided to modify the agenda and call it the Paetenians European Summit 2006. Please join us. Our Summit Agenda will be as follows:
Friday (July 28) starting at 5:00 PM
Saturday (July 29)
Last Sunday’s meeting was attended by Fely Casilag Burgdorfer, Heinz and Sheba Aseoche Allenbach, Dongdong and Marivic Dalagan, Pacita Paz Sommer and daughter Nicole, Edith Casilag Siegenthaler, Shirley Aseoche Birrer, Baby Cagayat, Norie Balquiedra, Primi Aseoche Gilgen and daughter Evelyn, and Finah Mendoza Cabaya and her husband Edgar. Please see our meeting photos on the left. Click on the photo for an enlarged view.
Everyone in the group will try their best to host our visitors giving priorities to our relatives and friends. Those whom we may not be able to accomodate can stay in hotels or pension houses. We will help you find cheap and affordable hotels here in Bern if you tell us your planned itinerary.
If you are planning to visit other cities in Europe, we suggest that you make Switzerland as your port of entry to facilitate your entry in Switzerland. Foreigners holding a valid permanent residence certificate of an EU or EFTA country, Andorra, Canada, Monaco, San Marino or the USA do not require a visa if their stay in Switzerland does not exceed three months. If you are coming from the Philippines or any other country, you will require a visitor visa. Please check and inquire about Switzerland’s visitor visa requirements, plane and train tickets, insurances, etc. from the Switzerland’s consulate office in your port of origin. For more information about Switzerland travel requirements, go to:
Canadian residents: http://www.eda.admin.ch/canada_all/e/home/travel/visa.html
Philippine citizens: http://www.eda.admin.ch/manila_emb/e/home/touri.html

If you have been saving and planning for an European tour, this is the the perfect time to make it happen- in the company of your fellow Paetenians. From our Summit city of Bern, Paris, France is just 600 kilometers drive to the west; Rome, Italy is about 900 km away to the south; Salzburg, Austria is about 600 km to the east; Munich, Germany is abot 400 km to the north and London, England is only a few hours plane ride away.
If you would like to come to Switzerland before or after the main Summit event, you are more than welcome. The first of August is a national holiday in Switzerland and there is a lot of holiday treats that you will experience during that week-end. We have several Paetenians in Europe who will roll down their red carpet for you should you decide to extend your travel to the other neighboring European cities.
Switzerland is served by fast and reliable inter-European rail services from at least a dozen countries. Most trains include dining cars, bars and a wide range of other amenities and - for night travel - comfortable sleeping compartments. You may wish to consider buying a EurilPass which entitles you to practically unlimited rail travel in the participating 17 Eurailpass countries and is also valid on some major shipping lines. The Eurailpass is valid on a continuous basis for a period of either 15 days, 21 days, 1 month, 2 months or 3 months, thus giving you the utmost flexibility in allowing to travel on any day within the chosen validity. For details and EurailPass pricing go to: http://www.eurail.com/.
